Both a sassy manifesto for self-discovery and a guide to everything lingerie, this book sparkles with inspiration, encouragement, and practical advice from celebrated lingerie expert Rebecca Apsan. Read an Excerpt My name is Rebecca, and I am a lingerie enthusiast.

Lingerie is so often underestimated. Considered frivolous. Condemned as steamy. And, worst of all, saved for special occasions. Beyond making or breaking an outfit, lingerie has the ability to transform, allowing a woman to reinvent and revitalize herself, or simply to remember who she is. I believe that everyone has a little flirt inside just waiting to be revealed.

If your attitude toward undergarments is no frills, no thrills, think again. Stop wearing underwear, and start wearing lingerie! Intimates are, by definition, private and personal. Yes, we see them everywhere, spread across advertisements, paraded across television screens, and plastered larger than life on four-story billboards. And yet, after all that, people know very little about what lies beneath.

Women have been known to pop into my store and then spend the entire afternoon. It happens all the time. This ignorance about intimates is pandemic. All across the world, women who would never think of going outside in torn shirts or ripped pants have stashes of undergarments in sorry, stretched-out states—and probably in the wrong sizes too—that they consider perfectly suitable for wear. Lingerie is the complex layer of a woman that exists between her inside and the outside she shows to the world.

It is the oft-overlooked middle area, the in-between. I understand that not everyone shares my aversion to bland, boring undergarments. As a bit of a provocateur, I challenge this complacency toward intimates daily. The way I see it, you only come around once in life, so you might as well have a good time. The feel of luxurious fabrics against your skin helps you view the world through different eyes.

I'd originally saw this book a couple of years ago at a lingerie shop in Hollywood and thought it was absolutely adorable but didn't have time to look through it.

However, the girly cover did catch my attention and I recently ordered it here on Amazon. For five bucks, it was a bargain! As my title says, this is probably THE Lingerie manual.

It covers bras, panties, shape wear, slips, undergarment care, etc. I especially love the very detailed section on bras. It's probably the largest chapter in the book. As a busty girl myself, the tips in that section truly opened my eyes to what I should be looking for when I go bra shopping seeing as it can be such a difficult experience if you're not a B or C cup. This handbook shows you how buying the right supportive undergarments can make you look and feel great no matter your body type.

I chose the 5-star rating because this book was very informative and helpful and has a great layout; there's just enough white space so you feel like you're not reading a book that is too wordy. After reading, I found out I was wearing the incorrect brassiere size and noticed a big difference in look and comfort once I was properly fitted. The book also has interesting history points of ladies' underthings and nice photos and pictures.

I highly recommend this book to any lady either for guidance or just if buying lots of lingerie is your thing! One person found this helpful. The book was aside from the pink cover and title! Apsan walks you through why women choose certain types and styles for different occasions. The book was a great overview, and worthy of committing to a man's bookshelf for review.

Mark my words - it will be gold, when you know the difference between cheekies, boy-shorts and high-cuts during a holiday lingerie run for the missus. This book has lots an lots of pictures. Pictures of yesterday and today's underwear and how thongs and g-strings can be worn comfortable. It also tells how underwire bras are not soppose to poke or hurt. The text is very informational and very undersanding. I learned alot from this book.

I measured her and told her she needed to be fitted. I convinced her to be fitted by a pro. She did and she was wearing the wrong size. She bought a couple of underwire bras that day. That same night she throwed away every bra she had yes every bra she had.

The next day we went out bra shopping. I never seen her so happy about bra shopping. She never liked underwire and I told her how your not suppose to feel the underwire. Now that she has the right size bra, underwire is all she looks for and she says underwire helps with lift.

As a man I found out why there's so much womens underwear and how to buy it. I buy her underwear that I like sexy lingerie, thongs, g-strings and sexy bras; I'll tell her; I bought me someting knowing how she only wears it for me and for a sort time. Now she wears what I buy as underwear even down to the thongs and g-strings as everyday undes. She feels very sexy now. I think that now I'm married to a diffent women. Her personality has changed for the better. I'm very thinkful for this book. We want our outterwear to fit right.

Why not our underwear. Yes only we know whats under our clothes but whats under our clothes can also effect the way we feel. I highly recommend this book to any male or female. We all buy or will buy womens underwear. Guy are clueless about this well maybe I can't say that for all guys but I was lost, I had no clue??? The book really does a very good job at going through every type of lingerie you could imagine and giving a strong definition of when you might choose to wear or not wear it.
