Dragon Ball Super may have notoriously poor pacing and animation flubs, but by the time it wrapped up its as-of-yet final arc, the Universal Survival Saga, the show was able to transform itself from something mediocre to a show worth watching for fans of the Dragon Ball franchise and even some newcomers.

In this state, Roshi has destroyed the moon, stood up to the Frieza Force, and even fought against powerful opponents in the Tournament of Power. Unfortunately for Tupper, he was easily outmatched by Android 18, who tossed the fighter like you would a baseball to a toddler.

Things played out differently but just as bad for Tupper in the manga, with Goku freeing himself by going Super Saiyan and eliminating the threat himself. Hailing from Universe 4, Ganos and his teammates fought against extinction in the Tournament of Power. In his base form, Ganos appears akin to a regular teenager. Due to his growth rate, his power is growing at a fearsome rate, to the point he may have been able to rival, or even surpass Goku.

Sadly, his suit was no match for the Prince of all Saiyans, and Katopesla takes his measly spot at The beloved, golden-haired transformation that debuted in DBZ and allowed Goku to achieve victory against the cruel Frieza was the absolute standard of power for what seemed like ages in the franchise.

Despite forms that far surpass this initial foray into the Super Saiyan state, this original one still makes an appearance in Super , and still manages to pack a wollop.

Super Saiyan 2 plays a surprisingly large role in Dragon Ball Super. Gotenks is the fusion of Goten and Trunks, and was extremely powerful, managing to nearly defeat Buu. In the end, of course, they failed and they would fail again as Gotenks when they challenged the God of Destruction, Beerus.

Although rarely seen in both the show and movies, this state was the epitome of stoic strength. Its first appearance in the Buu Saga is legendary for its epic introduction by Goku, and it was this form that Gotenks nearly put Buu away with.

Alas, like many once-powerful forms in Z, Super Saiyan 3 is shown to be utterly worthless against the might of a God of Destruction, specifically Beerus. Super Saiyan God is a legendary transformation that Goku was able to achieve it in Battle of Gods by having a pure heart and the help of six righteous Saiyans holding hands and transferring their energy into their chosen subject. This form gave the Saiyan access to divine ki , and gave him an enormous boost of power along with other enhanced abilities.

Though it would soon be overtaken by Super Saiyan Blue, Goku not only tapped into this form a few times in the Tournament of Power, but also against Beerus in an attempt to protect the Earth.

That was with only two, so imagine if he fused with an entire, planetary population of Namekians. The Majin Buu Saga contained lengthy, annoying, head-scratching moments, particularly with the seemingly-endless glut of transformations that the pink menace went through. Koicharator in this form is low on our list, but he has one final transformation up his sleeve that will put him far closer to the top, which is something that we will address a little later on in our countdown. The Maiden Squadron was a group of warriors from Universe 2 that appeared as young girls.

Used by Goku and Vegeta against the ultra-powerful opponents of Dragon Ball Super , this form has been extremely effective and is a demonstrable fruit of training with Whis. While extremely powerful, it does have one downside: it consumes stamina at an accelerated rate. This means that Goku and Vegeta need to use it sparingly in drawn out battles, such as the Tournament of Power. Anilaza is the final form of Koicherator after it combines with Paparoni.

Blazingly fast, overwhelmingly strong and impressively resistant, this transformation was not to be underestimated. Resembling the hulking Broly, Berserk Kale is a force to be reckoned with, wielding immense speed and gargantuan might, even surviving a direct Kamehameha from Super Saiyan Blue Goku. She may even have the ability to surpass him, but only in this absolutely uncontrollable, dangerous and berserk state.

Like all Potara fusions, Kefla was extremely powerful, particularly because Kale and Caulifla had dangerously potent potential, which was now multiplied a considerable amount of times. It allowed Trunks to channel the energy of those around him into a Spirit Bomb-like attack that charged up his sword and disintegrated a god. This shimmering state gave him power that was greater than even Super Saiyan Blue, and that was only the beginning.

After being sent back to Hell, Frieza mastered this form and became so immensely powerful that the actual Energy of Destruction from a God of Destruction meant nothing to him. Speaking of Gods of Destruction, Toppo, one of the toughest fighters from Universe 11, decided near the finale of the Tournament of Power to become one. With this decision, Toppo was granted the Energy of Destruction and his already-imposing threat level escalated to beyond the wildest dreams of many.

During the true evolution of Super Saiyan Blue, Vegeta pioneers this incredible transformation when pushed to his absolute limits during the final moments of the Tournament of Power. While Trunks was the one to score the dramatic finishing blow on Fused Zamasu, that honor would have likely gone to Super Saiyan Blue Vegito. This absolute behemoth of divine justice is easily one of the strongest transformations in the entire franchise, wielding powers that essentially made him literally unstoppable.

Although he absent-mindedly weakened himself by fusing with a non-immortal, Fused Zamasu remained inconceivably powerful and, despite suffering a temporary defeat at the hands of Trunks, he would re-emerge as the universe itself. Dragon Ball: All Of Goku's Forms In Order Of Impact | CBR

Which transformations left audiences with their jaws on the floor? Which ones left an impact? Let's start with the basic form. Goku, in his base form, is still a force to be reckoned with. He spent all of Dragon Ball, after all, in this form with a couple of noticeable exceptions. However, in base form, he is at his lowest level of power. But by the time Goku entered the form, it had already become old-hat.

He only spends one real fight employing the form -- against Majin Vegeta. However, by the time Goku could transform into Super Saiyan 2, he had already unlocked the power of Super Saiyan 3, making this form obsolete. Only when Pan helps Goku regain his senses can he take command of this powerful form, entering into the legendary Super Saiyan 4 form.

It's a nice throw-back to the pre-Super Saiyan era of transformations. However, by the time Goku went Ultra Instinct, many fans felt burned out by all the new forms. That isn't to say Goku's final battle with Jiren, where he transforms into his Ultra Instinct form, is anything less than stellar. As the ultimate finale of the Universal Survival arc, it is nothing short of epic.

On this list, not so much. The Great Ape form is Goku's first transformation in Dragon Ball, taking place only a dozen episodes in.

When Goku's tail is exposed to the light of a Full Moon, he transforms into a gigantic, uncontrollable Ape. With ten times as much strength as usual, he is a destructive, chaotic force. The Great Ape form is a terrific force to be reckoned with, but Goku is completely unable to control himself during this form. There's a reason Goku doesn't willingly transform into a Great Ape like his rival Vegeta. That and without a tail, you can't transform. However, Goku's Super Saiyan 4 form is arguably one of the coolest things to ever come out of the series.

Unlike every other transformation to this point, Goku's hair remains jet black, but a red coat of fur sprouts all over his body. He goes from his child form to his adult form, sporting an incredibly cool, coarser voice. The only underwhelming part about Super Saiyan 4 Goku, however, is that it is no longer canon. Perhaps the hardest form for a Saiyan to achieve, Goku's Super Saiyan God form allowed him to match the strength of the legendary God of Destruction himself, Beerus.

Only achievable thanks to the unification of pure-hearted Saiyans, Goku's sheer strength in this form is enough to bend the fabric of reality to the breaking point. One transformation permanently empowers a Saiyan beyond all prior limitations. Super Saiyan God form is rarely seen after the initial fight with Beerus but does make a reappearance when Broly comes knocking. For a while, this was Goku's peak power. The Kaio-Ken technique multiplies the user's power by a given factor, but, in turn, puts an incredible strain on the fighter's body.

The coolest part about Kaio-Ken is the incredible strain it puts on the user. However, there were periods later on where Goku would employ the Kaio-Ken in conjunction with his Super Saiyan forms. Super Saiyan 3 is the Goku transformation that literally rocked an entire planet.

It is also the point where Goku's forms became increasingly ridiculous. Golden hair? Lightning bolts around your body? We can handle that. Losing your eyebrows and growing waist-long hair? Gaining enough power to literally break cities apart? It started a real trend for Goku finding a new transformation every arc or two.

Super Saiyan Blue -- or Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan, if you're not into breathing as you speak -- takes things back to a simpler time. Less complicated than other high-level transformations, Super Saiyan Blue looks much like the Super Saiyan transformation, only with new blue hair. For modern fans, it is the pinnacle. Incredibly cool. Arguably, no other form Goku has ever taken remains as iconic as this one.

Except for one The classic. Frieza pushed Goku a little too far by killing Krillin, which triggered this legendary transformation.

At a time where transformations weren't a regular occurrence, the weight of this moment shifted the balance of everything to come in Dragon Ball. Even after his initial transformation, there are several classic moments where Goku transformed into a Super Saiyan fans simply cannot forget, such as when Goku went Super Saiyan in his fight against Cooler, using his aura to resurrect a dying bird.
